Frequently Asked Questions

  • How many photographs will you take?

This entirely depends on the size of the home. You will receive between 2 and 7 images per room (2 minimum for bathrooms, 4-7 for larger spaces like living rooms). The minimum number of photographs provided is 12.

  • How do I book?

Please send a message through the contact form here, or email hello@caroline-alexander.com directly. A $100 non-refundable retainer is required to reserve a date, which will go towards the total cost. You will also be required to sign an industry standard contract outlying the conditions of retaining Caroline Alexander Photography's services.

  •  How quickly will I get my photographs?

All photographs will be delivered via online gallery no later than 5 business days after the photoshoot providing full payment has been received.

  • Do I own copyright of the photographs?

No, the photographer retains copyright to the images, while you receive a license to use the images for limited commercial use on vacation rental sites such as Airbnb and VRBO, or your personal business website.

  • Can I print the photographs?

No, the digital files do not come with a print release. Please reach out to me if you require one.

  • What should I do to prepare?

Please make sure that your home is clean, tidy and clutter free for the photoshoot. Prepare your home like your were preparing for a guest arriving. Small touches such as fresh flowers, fruit bowls, clean towels and pretty bathroom toiletries help to make your place more inviting and aid in creating a welcoming vibe that guests look for. You can read more about how to prepare here.

  •  Why should I get professional photographs taken of my place?

Photographs are the first thing a potential guest looks for when booking their vacation. Dark and out-of-focus smart phone images are a huge turn off and don't create the level of trust necessary for a potential guest to feel comfortable booking with you. Will you still get bookings with smart phone photos? Absolutely. But those bookings are usually by price-shoppers or those booking last minute trips. If you want to attract guests that are willing to pay more and book more often then professional photographs are a necessity. Guests will feel more comfortable knowing that a professional photographer has visited your home, and the photographs will draw them in by showing off the atmosphere of your home.

  • Why Should I book with Caroline Alexander Photography instead of using the photography service provided by my vacation rental website?

Generally, the photography services offered by vacation rental websites come with an extremely limited photographic license. You will only be able to use the photographs on that particular website, and you will not receive the high resolution images for personal or further professional use. Furthermore, those websites limit the number of photographs allowed (usually around 25) which is not ideal for properties with more than 2 bedrooms. Caroline Alexander Photography will spend time creating a custom session just for you - highlighting rooms and close up shots that will appeal to guests and encourage them to visit your residence. You will be granted a license that allows you to use the images on ALL online vacation rental platforms as well as receive high resolution copies for your personal records.

  • I have a place in Hawaii, will you come photograph it?

ABSOLUTELY! Caroline is available for travel with expenses reimbursed. Anything more than 25 miles from our offices require additional travel expenses. Our radius includes Colorado Springs, Old Colorado City, Fountain, Security-Widefield, Monument, Black Forest, Woodland Park, Stratmoor Hills, Manitou Springs and Cascade.

  •  What forms of payment do you accept?

Cash and all major credit and debit cards. A $100 non-refundable retainer is required to hold your date.
