Introduction to Military Housing - Part 1 - Thoughtfully Designed Apartment in Stuttgart, Germany
Before I moved to Germany, one of the main things I was worried about was the military housing situation. The majority of posts that I’d read were filled with complaints and horror stories, and while of course there are plenty of things that aren’t great, there are so many positives. One such positive is having a blank canvas and being able to explore local boutiques and stores to bring a little bit of Europe into your home.
Since moving here, I have met so many wonderful military spouses so have transformed their on-post apartments into dream spaces. I decided that I would love to start a project documenting these beautiful homes to share with the rest of the military community; to provide peace of mind and inspiration to those who are frantically googling “Stuttgart military housing”, just like I was, 12 months ago.
Without further ado, I’d like to introduce you to the first home in this series. This incredible four bedroom apartment was designed by Erin and is on Patch Barracks. Scroll all the way to the bottom for some links of where you can purchase similar items.

Erin’s kitchen table is from Depot 44 in Belgium. It’s made from two wheels used to power a central shaft in a factory. The wood is reclaimed from an old farmhouse in the Ardennes.
The beautiful large blue hutch in the dining room is from Petra Home Collection who frequently comes to the Px on Panzer.
Erin also recommends checking out TKMaxx and Fischer’s Lagerhaus in Sindelfingen.
I hope this gives you some inspiration - please also check out my friend (and fellow military spouse) Bree’s blog post, 7 Ways to Make White Walls Feel Like A Home here for some more tips (note, the photos are from when she lived on Robinson!).
Thats all for now! Stay tuned for the next blog post on military housing. Please contact me here if you live on post in Stuttgart and would like to be featured.
